Our occupational therapist and seating technician assess and prescribe mobility and other aids to children and adults to help them lead more independent lives. Mobility aids include wheelchairs, walkers, adaptive bikes, and standers. Our team works to ensure that the client's postural support and mobility are at their optimal level. Our services include follow-up visits with our clients, the authorization of wheelchair and seating systems for clients eligible for the Ministry of Health's Assistive Devices Program, and liasing with appropriate agencies to secure funding for clients.
The Seating and Mobility Service also holds an annual Bicycle Clinic usually in early May. It is open to any child in the Thunder Bay region who may be having difficulty mastering bicycle riding. Children may be assessed on their own bikes for possible adaptations or they can trial one of our adapted bicycles.
